Repair work here has one rule: we come early. Once these lanes fill, we cannot get a vehicle, a ladder or a panel near your shop. And there would be no room to work. Most shops open late morning, which suits us. We start at first light. We are usually finished before the street wakes up.
Floor springs on doors that never rest
A door on Commercial Street is opened more often than almost any door we work on. The floor spring controls how the door swings and shuts. It is a wearing part, not a permanent one. In time it loses control or starts to leak oil.
You notice this. The door slams, drifts open, catches on the floor, or will not lock at closing time.
Changing one is usually a two to three hour visit. Our van carries the common springs. Send a short video of the door moving before we come. It tells us more than words. Then we bring the right spring with us.
Broken glass on a lane that cannot be closed
If a front is broken, the first visit is about making it safe. Not finished. We clear the glass and board or screen the opening. Then you can trade and the lane stays safe.
The new panel then has to be made. Toughened glass (safety glass) is cut and drilled before it is toughened. Nothing can be done to it after. So a made-to-size panel takes a few working days.
We would rather tell you this plainly at the first call. We will not promise a next-day panel that does not exist.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you backUsually the same day. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call. Then you know if a visit is worth your time.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening. We also check the walls, floor, ceiling and the way in. Your glass is made to these final sizes, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt shows the glass, the fittings and the fitting work as separate lines. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We make it and fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Then we make your glass. Our team delivers it, fits it, checks the doors line up and clears the site.
