Model Town in Ghaziabad, East and West, is an established residential colony of old family houses. Many families have lived here for generations. Now the houses are being redone, usually floor by floor, as children marry and move into their own level. The work is bathrooms, railings and windows, one floor at a time.
One floor at a time
In Model Town, a family often redoes one floor while living on the others. So the work happens in a lived-in house.
We keep noise and dust to the floor we are working on, and clean the shared stair each day.
A bathroom is usually out of use for one day.
Doing the whole floor at once
When a floor is redone, it is cheaper to do all its glass together: the bathroom, the windows and the balcony railing.
The visit, the delivery and the team's day are paid once. If another floor will follow later, we can keep the same design for both.
We measure the whole floor on one visit.
Old walls, new glass
The houses here are old, and walls have moved over the years. Frameless glass would show that as a gap.
A slim aluminium frame hides the lean and seals well. On a floor that has been freshly re-tiled with true walls, frameless looks better.
