If glass has just broken, do this first
Keep people away from it, especially children and anyone without shoes on.
Do not pull out the pieces still standing in the frame or the clamps. A loose piece can drop without warning, and the edge of a broken sheet is sharper than a kitchen knife. If a piece is hanging and about to fall, tape across it in an X to hold it, and leave the rest.
If it is toughened glass it has probably broken completely, into a heap of small blunt pieces. That is the glass doing its job. Sweep what you can reach, and leave the rest to us.
Then send us a photo on WhatsApp. We can usually make the opening safe the same day. A new panel made to size takes longer, because toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after it is made.
How replacement glass is matched
New glass is made to match the type, the thickness and the exact size of what you had.
We measure the opening rather than the broken piece, because the broken piece has usually moved. If the fittings are staying, we match the holes and cutouts to them, to the millimetre. A hole in the wrong place wastes the sheet, because toughened glass cannot be drilled once it is made.
While we are there, we check the fittings around the glass. Glass rarely breaks for no reason, and a loose clamp or a dropped floor spring is often what broke it.
Glass doors and sliding doors that drag, slam or will not lock
When a glass door starts catching on the floor, people assume the door has warped. Glass does not warp. Usually one of three things has happened.
The floor spring, which is the closer set into the floor under the door, has lost its oil and dropped. A patch fitting, the metal clamp that grips a corner of the glass, has worked loose. Or the hinges on a wall-mounted door have moved at the fixing. All three are repairs, and all three cost far less than new glass.
Sliding doors have their own faults. Worn rollers make a door drag. A dented track makes it catch at one spot. A worn lock stops it closing. We change the part that has failed, and keep the door.
Deal with a dragging door early. Every swing loads the corner of the glass, and that is where a crack starts.
Aluminium and uPVC windows that stick, leak or will not close
We repair aluminium and uPVC windows and doors. A window that drags usually needs new rollers. One that will not lock needs a new handle or lock. One that rattles or lets in dust needs new rubbers.
Rain coming in around a window usually means blocked drain holes, worn seals, or a gap where the frame meets the wall. We test it with water to find the path, then clear and reseal it. A loose pane gets its beading and rubbers refitted.
Doors get the same care. We free doors that stick, and seal the gaps that let in water, dust and insects, or let out cold air from the AC. Sealing is priced per window or per door.
Shower doors, balcony glass, railings and mirrors
A shower door that drips, drops or drags usually needs a part, not new glass. We change hinges, handles, rollers and seals, matched to the holes already in your glass.
On balconies, we replace cracked railing glass with railing-grade toughened glass. We also tighten or replace the clamps on a glass railing that wobbles.
We fit custom glass too. That means mirrors, table tops, shelves and other glass cut to your measurements.
Mosquito mesh for windows, doors and balconies
We make and fit mosquito mesh to the size of each opening. For windows we fit stainless steel mesh in aluminium frames, openable, sliding or fixed. We also replace torn mesh in frames you already have.
For doors there are magnetic mesh screens, pleated mesh that folds away to the side, and sliding mesh doors that run beside a glass door. For a whole balcony we fit balcony mesh across the opening.
Wooden and steel doors, wardrobes and gates
On wooden doors, wardrobes and kitchen cabinets we repair the hardware. We change hinges, handles, locks and channels, and we realign doors and shutters that no longer close.
On steel doors, iron gates, grills and rolling shutters we do the same. We repair hinges, locks, rollers, channels and closers, and set the movement right.
We do not do carpentry, welding, fabrication or painting. If the job needs one of those, we will tell you before we start.
