Karol Bagh is retail and hospitality packed into a very small area. Showrooms on Ajmal Khan Road, electronics in Gaffar Market, and a dense band of hotels behind. The work is shopfronts, entrance doors, hotel bathroom glass and a constant flow of repairs. The hard part is never the glass. It is arriving with it.
Delivery is planned before the glass is made
In Karol Bagh a delivery vehicle standing in a lane does not inconvenience people. It stops the lane.
So we deliver at first light, before the market wakes up. The panels come off, the vehicle leaves immediately, and the carrying and fitting happen afterwards - both of which are quiet and cause nobody any trouble.
This is why we ask which lane, which side and which floor when you first call. It is not paperwork. It decides how many people we send, what time we start, and whether the panels can be brought in one piece at all.
Hotel bathrooms, room by room
There are a great many small and mid-size hotels here, and their glass work has a rhythm of its own: rooms come out of service one or two at a time, never a whole floor.
That suits us. A single bathroom enclosure is a day's work, and we can move down a corridor a room at a time so the hotel keeps trading. We finish each room fully and hand it back clean rather than leaving three rooms part-done.
The useful thing about hotel work is that the rooms repeat. Once we have measured two, we know the rest, and a standing order for a block of rooms is much cheaper per room than a series of single visits. Tell us the whole plan at the start even if the budget is spread over months.
Shopfronts that cannot lose a trading day
A showroom front here is the business. When it breaks, the shop cannot secure itself and often cannot trade.
We make it safe first: clear the broken glass, which travels further than people expect, and board the opening so the shop can shut for the night. Then we measure.
And then the honest part, which matters more here than anywhere. Made-to-size toughened glass takes three to five working days to cut, drill and toughen. That cannot be shortened by paying more. Anyone offering you a toughened shopfront the same afternoon is either fitting plain glass - which is dangerous in a public entrance and will not pass any sensible insurance question - or has not measured it yet.
