A great deal of the glazing work in Karol Bagh happens on a mezzanine - the half floor inserted above a shop to give it an office, a store or a fitting area. Headroom there is limited, access is a steep stair, and every decision about glass is shaped by those two things.
Partitions where you cannot stand fully upright
A mezzanine often has under two metres of headroom, so a standard full-height partition simply does not apply.\n\nThe useful approach is a partition that stops below the ceiling with an open gap above, which keeps the air moving and stops the space feeling like a box.\n\nIt also makes the panels shorter and lighter, which matters a great deal when they have to go up a steep stair. Where privacy is needed at a desk, a lower panel with a frosted band does the job without closing the space in.
Getting panels up a mezzanine stair
Mezzanine stairs are steep, narrow and frequently have a low soffit at the top, which is the tightest point.\n\nA rigid panel has to clear that soffit while being tilted, and the geometry is unforgiving.\n\nSo we measure the headroom at the top of the stair as well as the stair itself, and size panels to clear it. Where nothing usable will pass, we bring the glass up through the shop front before the shutters are fitted, or build the partition in narrow sections.

Many mezzanines have a glazed front looking down into the shop, which lets the office watch the floor and borrows the shop's light.\n\nThat glass is a barrier at a height people can fall from, so it is not an ordinary partition - it has to be toughened or laminated and fixed to take a load pushed against it.\n\nWe build those with a proper top rail and fixings rated for it, not as a decorative screen. It is the one place on a mezzanine where the specification genuinely matters.
