- How to tell
- One panel rattles inside a clamp, a rubber gasket has slipped out, or the clamp is cracked or badly corroded. Movement may be strongest at one corner of the panel.

- How to tell
- A crack starts from an edge, corner or clamp position. A small edge chip may sit partly inside the hardware and appear only when viewed from the side.

- Keep both feet on the safe side and look along the railing without leaning against it.
- Notice whether one panel moves or whether posts and neighbouring panels move together.
- Look for a missing rubber gasket, a cracked clamp, rust or an open fixing cover.
- Check panel edges visually for a chip or crack, but do not run your hand along them.
- Record a short video from a safe position without pushing or testing the railing hard.
Keep people away from a railing that visibly moves, has broken hardware or has chipped or cracked glass. Do not lean on it or try to tighten it yourself.

Is a little movement normal in a glass railing?
A very small amount of flexibility can depend on the system, but visible shaking, rattling or movement at a fixing needs inspection. It is not safe to judge strength by pushing harder on the railing.
Can I tighten a loose glass railing clamp myself?
We do not recommend it. Too little pressure leaves the panel loose, while too much or uneven pressure can damage the glass edge. The gasket and fixing behind the clamp also need checking first.
How can you tell whether the glass or railing hardware is faulty?
We look for the first point of movement and inspect panel edges, gaskets, clamps, posts and anchors in sequence. A crack or chip points to damaged glass. Movement with sound glass usually leads back to its support hardware.
Can only one loose section of a glass railing be repaired?
Yes, when the fault is limited to that section and the neighbouring fixings are sound. We still inspect the nearby panels because components of the same age may have loosened together.
