The short answer
An open balcony gives pigeons a sheltered place to rest and nest. Mesh across the open side, from the railing up to the ceiling, keeps them out. We do not fit spikes, gels or bird chemicals, and we do not catch birds. Mesh that closes the opening is the part we do.
Why it happens
Usually one of these 4 things, commonest first. Each one says how to tell, and what we do about it.
The balcony is open from the railing to the ceiling
- How to tell
- Pigeons perch on the railing or ledge and walk in when the balcony is quiet. You find droppings and feathers on the floor and in the corners.
- What we do
- We fit slim aluminium frames across the open side and set mesh panels into them. Stainless steel mesh, which is woven steel wire, keeps out pigeons and mosquitoes both. If birds are the only problem, a heavier bird mesh does that one job.

- How to tell
- The balcony has a grille, but pigeons squeeze between the bars or over the top. Droppings collect on the ledge just inside it.
- What we do
- We fit the mesh onto the grille or just inside it, so every gap is covered. The grille stays in place. Mesh is not a child safety barrier, so it does not replace the grille.

- How to tell
- The balcony itself is not meshed, and the sliding door is open during the day. Pigeons come into the room or sit just inside the doorway.
- What we do
- A sliding mesh door goes beside the glass, on its own track, the rail it runs on. Air comes through the doorway, and birds stay out on the balcony. It closes the room to pigeons, but not the balcony.
Sliding Mosquito Net DoorFrom ₹272 / sq ftSee this fixThe balcony doorway is too wide for a mesh door
- How to tell
- The doorway spans most of the wall, or its track has no spare channel. A sliding mesh door would need several panels, or has nowhere to go.
- What we do
- Pleated mesh is creased into folds, so it packs away in a narrow bundle. It covers a wide opening in one piece, with no post in the middle. The floor rail is low enough to step over easily.

What you can check first
These checks are safe to do yourself. A photo or a short video of what you find helps us come prepared.
- From inside the room, note where pigeons land most: railing, ledge, grille or doorway.
- Look at the gaps in any grille and whether birds fit through them.
- Notice whether pigeons come into the room or stay out on the balcony.
- Take a photo of the whole open side from inside the balcony.
Do not lean over the railing or stand on a ledge to chase pigeons away. On an upper floor, that is a real fall risk. The mesh is fitted from inside the balcony.

Can pigeons damage the mesh?
A determined pigeon can damage fibreglass mesh, the light woven net, over time. Stainless steel mesh is tough enough that birds give up on it. Heavy bird mesh is the strongest against birds, but it does not stop mosquitoes.
There is already a nest on the balcony. Can the mesh still go up?
Removing nests or birds is not work we do. The mesh can go up once no birds or nests are left inside the opening. When we measure, we point out if a nest sits where a frame will go.
Can we still dry clothes on the balcony after meshing?
Yes. The mesh closes only the open side, so the balcony inside stays yours to use. Air still passes through the mesh, so the space still works for drying.
Will the mesh stop pigeons sitting on the outside ledge?
No. Mesh keeps birds out of the balcony, but it cannot stop them landing outside it. A ledge or sunshade outside the mesh stays open to birds. We do not fit spikes or anything else to keep birds off ledges.
