Vikaspuri is mostly DDA and co-operative flats built in the 1980s. They were solid then and they are still solid, but forty years on almost everything inside is being replaced. Steel windows become aluminium. A bath curtain becomes a glass enclosure. And the society usually has a view on when that work can happen.
Swapping old steel windows for aluminium
Many Vikaspuri flats still have their original steel windows. They rust, they stick, and the glass rattles in its putty.
Replacing them with aluminium sliding windows is one of our most common jobs here. The new frame is fixed into the old opening, sealed properly, and the old frame is taken away.
We measure each opening separately. After forty years no two are quite the same size.
Walls that have moved since the eighties
In a building this age, the bathroom walls have usually shifted a few millimetres. Nobody notices until frameless glass goes against them.
Frameless panels are cut square, so a leaning wall shows as a tapering gap. A slim aluminium frame hides that difference inside its channel and seals properly.
We check each wall with a level and tell you which will look better in your bathroom.
Working with the society committee
Most blocks here are co-operative societies. They keep a register at the gate and usually allow work in set daytime hours.
We plan the day to finish inside those hours. A shower enclosure cannot be left half-fitted, so we only start what will truly finish.
If neighbours in the same block want similar work, doing it together saves each of you money.
