Jakkur, Sahakar Nagar and the layouts around Amruthahalli and Byatarayanapura are mostly villas and low blocks, not tall towers. That makes them easy to work in. There is usually somewhere to park a vehicle, buildings are two or three floors, and there is rarely a lift booking or a facility desk between us and the job. What changes most here is the age of the building.
Low buildings make for simple jobs
Most of what limits a glass job elsewhere in the city is missing here. No service lift to book. No gate hours to work around. And rarely more than two or three flights of stairs.
That means we can usually use one panel, where a taller building would force us to make the same run as two panels with a joint. One panel looks better and takes less time to fit.
It also means a firm date, not a vague window, because there is nothing outside our control between the vehicle and the bathroom.
Villas bring more than bathrooms
The villas here bring work that flats do not. A glass stair railing. A fixed entrance screen. A terrace partition. And three or four bathrooms in the same house.
Do them in one order. One measuring visit, one delivery and one booking for our team covers the whole house, instead of three or four of each spread over months.
A chipped or cracked toughened panel is worth replacing, not watching, because damage to the edge takes away the strength that toughening gives it. On a stair railing that matters more than anywhere else in the house.
Old block or new villa changes the style
Sahakar Nagar and Kodigehalli have been settled for a long time. Those bathrooms have usually moved a few millimetres, and a slim aluminium frame suits them.
The newer villas around Jakkur are straight, so frameless is both better looking and simpler.
We check with a level at the measuring visit. It takes two minutes, and it is the difference between a clean edge and a gap you can see from the doorway.
