KR Puram is mostly independent houses and small commercial buildings, which makes the work itself simple. What is not simple is reaching it. Old Madras Road and the bridge can hold a delivery for an hour or more at the wrong time. So we plan our arrival before anything else. Once we are on site, this is some of the easiest work we do.
The staircase sets the panel size
Almost no building here has a service lift. So every panel goes up by hand, usually around a tight turn.
This is the one measurement people never think about, and it matters more than the opening. We measure the staircase on the same visit as the room.
Where a panel will not turn the corner, we build the job as two panels joined with a connector. From a few feet away you cannot see the join. Tell us which floor you are on when you first get in touch. A third floor and a ground floor are very different jobs.
What we fit in these houses
Shower enclosures, mostly. Then fixed screens, stair railing panels, and replacement glass in windows and doors.
The houses here were built across many different years, so the answer changes street by street. A bathroom that has just been re-tiled suits frameless and looks better for it. A twenty year old bathroom has usually settled, and a slim aluminium frame takes that up inside the channel.
A chipped or cracked toughened panel is worth replacing rather than watching. Damage to the edge takes away the strength that toughening gives the glass. A stair railing is not the place to find that out.
Working in a house people live in
This is different from a building site, and it shows in how we work rather than in the price.
We cover the floors, sheet off the working area so dust does not spread through the house, and take the old enclosure or panel away with us the same day.
Silicone needs time to set before a new shower is used. We would rather tell you that plainly than have you find out. If it is your only bathroom, we fit in the morning, so the setting time falls overnight.
