Yeshwanthpur is where the old factory city and the new one sit side by side. Along Tumkur Road there are wholesale units, godowns and offices with real loading space. On the same stretch there are tower blocks, built on land those units used to sit on. We do very different work in the two, sometimes on the same street.
Offices built into commercial units
The usual commercial job here is an office built inside or above a working unit. A front office, a manager's cabin, a small meeting room, often with a warehouse or workshop behind it.
That brings two real points. Ceilings are often higher than in a normal office, which means thicker glass and sometimes a support rod at the top, tying a long run back to a wall. And there is usually dust, so we sheet off the working area well and clean the glass at the end, not at the start.
Access is the good part. Ground level or a goods lift, wide doors, and a full working day without booking anything.
The towers on the same road
The homes here are newer than the units around them, which makes the bathroom work easy. The walls are straight, so frameless is the better looking and the simpler answer.
The part that needs planning is getting up. The service lift has to be booked through the association, and it sets the largest panel we can carry. So we measure the lift as well as the bathroom.
Give us the tower name at the first call. One phone call to the facility desk tells us the lift size and the working hours, which is enough to price the job properly.
Delivering onto Tumkur Road
The highway approach and the Goraguntepalya junction can hold a vehicle for a long time at the wrong hour.
So deliveries here go early. We unload, and the fitting then runs a normal working day.
For the commercial units that is easy, because there is somewhere to unload. For the towers it matters more, because a late delivery can miss a booked lift slot and cost a day.
