Banashankari is a settled family area, and that shows in what people ask us for. Almost nothing here is a first fitting. It is a bathroom being redone after fifteen or twenty years, a framed enclosure gone chalky, or a sliding door that came off its track and never went back on right. That is a different job from a new flat. It needs a different chat before anyone quotes it.
Repair or replace, answered honestly
It depends which part has failed. We would rather tell you than sell you the bigger job.
If the glass is sound and only the hinges, seals or handle have gone, that is a real repair. It costs a small part of a new enclosure.
If the frame has rusted, the seals have gone hard and the silicone has failed behind the tiles, that is what fifteen or twenty years usually looks like. Fixing one of those three only lasts a few months, and you pay for the visit twice. Send a photo of the door edge and the bottom track, and we will tell you which it is before anyone travels.
Why a frame often suits these bathrooms
Walls move over time. After fifteen or twenty years many of these bathrooms are a few millimetres out of straight. Frameless glass has almost no room to take that up. A gap shows along the edge, and the door may need packing to close.
A slim aluminium frame takes that up inside the channel. It usually costs a little less, and it hides a lot.
If your bathroom has just been fully re-tiled, frameless is the right answer again and looks better. We decide with a level at the measuring visit. We do not push the dearer option by default.
Working in a bathroom you use every day
This is different from an empty flat. It changes how the day runs, not what it costs.
We cover the floor and fittings, and sheet off the working area so dust does not travel through the house. The old enclosure leaves with us the same day. It does not sit on your landing.
A single bathroom is half a day to a day. Then allow about a day for the silicone to set before you use the shower. If it is your only bathroom, tell us and we will fit in the morning, so the setting time falls overnight.
