Most repair calls from Banashankari are about parts that have worn out, not glass that has broken. A shower door whose hinges have rusted. A sliding panel off its track. A handle that has worked loose and pulled the door out of line. Knowing which it is before anyone travels is what turns this into one visit instead of two.
What we would repair, and what we would not
If the glass is good and only the hinges, rollers, seals or handle have gone, that is a real repair. It costs a small part of a new enclosure, and we will say so rather than quote the bigger job.
Sometimes the frame has rusted, the seals have gone hard and the silicone has failed. Fixing one of the three then buys a few months. No more than that.
Send a photo of the door edge and the bottom track, or a short video if the door moves badly. That usually settles it before anyone travels. It means the right parts are on the van the first time.
Matching replacement glass in an older house
Where a panel does have to be replaced, we match the type, the thickness and any frosting. Frosting is the cloudy finish that stops you seeing through. The new piece should not stand out beside the ones around it.
On glass that has been in place for twenty years, there can be a very slight difference in colour. We tell you if we expect that, rather than let you find it after fitting.
A new panel comes with us taking the old one away. Where we cannot fit the same day, we make the opening safe on the first visit and come back once the new panel is made.
List Banashankari faults by opening, not by room
A room name is not enough for a repair quote. Mark each item as kitchen east window, balcony slider, main door or upstairs shower, then attach one full photo and one close view. If it moves badly, add a short video from open to closed.
We return the list with the likely action beside every opening: adjust, replace a part, reseal, measure new glass or inspect further. Several small faults can share one booked visit, while made-to-size panels follow after measurement. This format keeps a multi-room repair understandable and lets you approve the urgent items without losing track of the rest.
Window rubber, rollers and mosquito nets renewed in Banashankari
Inside an aluminium window, a strip of rubber grips the glass. Sun hardens that rubber and it shrinks. Then the glass rattles, and dust and rain get past it. We strip the old rubber out and fit new rubber around the whole pane.
A sliding window also runs on rollers, the small wheels under each shutter. When they wear, the window drags or needs a lift to move. We fit a new pair and clean the track. On a uPVC window, a handle that spins loose usually needs a new handle, not a new window.
The mosquito nets on an older Banashankari house go the same way as the rubber. The frames are fine, but the mesh has torn at a corner or pulled out of its groove. We refit new mesh in the old frames, and add a net to any window that never had one. Get this done before the rains, when mosquitoes are worst. A torn mosquito net keeps out nothing.
