A knock does not always break the glass

A knock from a trolley usually takes a small piece out of an edge or a corner. It does not shatter the panel.

That chip matters more than it looks. Toughened glass (safety glass) is strong because its surface and edges are under tension. A chip releases that tension in one spot. Panels chipped this way often break later on their own, with nobody near them.

So a chipped edge is a replacement, not a wait-and-see. We will tell you straight when a panel is fine and when it is living on borrowed time. Guessing wrong on a factory floor is not a small thing.

A closer or floor spring on a unit door works harder in a month than an office door does in a year.

Common questions

A panel is chipped at the edge but not broken. Can we leave it?

We would not. Toughened glass holds its strength in its surface and its edges. A chip there means the panel can break later, with nothing touching it. On a floor where people walk past it all day, that is not a risk worth carrying. We measure it, make the new panel to size, and fit it on a second visit.

Can you come without stopping production?

Yes. We agree a work area with your supervisor and stay inside it. We can plan the noisy part around your break if that suits better. The one thing we ask is that trolleys are kept out of that area while glass is standing. Most repairs here are done with the floor running as normal.

Is the rate per square foot of glass or of floor?

Glass, always. It is the most common reason a price looks higher than people expect. A 10 x 8 ft cabin sounds like 80 sq ft. But if three sides are glass and each is eight feet tall, that is about 216 sq ft. Your written price shows the glass area so you can check the maths.

Is GST included in these prices?

No. Every rate on this site is before GST. Your written price shows the amount and the GST as two separate lines, so there is no surprise at the end.
