Turab Nagar, around Ghantaghar and Navyug Market, is the old commercial heart of Ghaziabad. Its lanes are packed with wholesale and retail shops: cloth, utensils, electronics, jewellery. No delivery vehicle gets near most of them. The work here is shopfronts, counters and display glass, and every job starts with how the glass will get through.
Carrying glass into the old market
In Turab Nagar, the vehicle stops where the road allows and the glass is carried the rest of the way. That limits the size of every piece.
Each panel must fit through the lane and the shop door. We walk the route when we measure.
We arrive very early, before the lanes fill with shoppers and carts.
Glass inside the shop, not just the front
Much of the work here is inside the shop: glass counters, display cases and shelves.
We fit toughened glass with polished edges, so there are no sharp corners on a counter people lean on.
For jewellery counters, laminated glass adds security, because it holds together when struck.
Old, uneven buildings
Many shops here are in old buildings where nothing is square. Walls lean and floors slope.
So we measure every opening and counter at several points. A panel cut to one measurement would not fit.
