Civil Lines is one of Delhi's oldest planned areas. Wide roads, large colonial-era bungalows, government housing and the university close by. The buildings here are unlike anything else in the city. Ceilings are very high, walls are thick, and window openings are tall and rarely a standard size. Every job starts with careful measuring.

Tall windows that are never a standard size

Old bungalows here have tall windows, sometimes ten feet or more. The openings were built by hand, so no two are quite the same.

We measure every opening separately, top, middle and bottom. Old walls are rarely square, and a window cut to one measurement would leave a gap.

Tall panels are heavy. At ground level they come in easily, but they need more people to handle safely.

Keeping the character of an old building

Many owners here want modern glass without losing the old look. Slim frames in a dark colour usually sit better in a colonial building than bright silver aluminium.

Where the old wooden frames are sound, it is sometimes better to reglaze them than replace them. We will say so when that is the case.

In government housing, check any rules about changing the outside before we order.

Bathrooms in thick old walls

Bathrooms in these bungalows have thick walls and, often, uneven floors. Frameless glass needs a true wall, and these are rarely true.

A slim frame takes up the unevenness inside its channel and seals properly. We check the floor fall too, so water runs to the drain and not out under the door.

We measure first and recommend what will actually work in your room.

How a job runs

  1. Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
  2. We call you backUsually the same day. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call. Then you know if a visit is worth your time.
  3. We come and measureWe measure the opening. We also check the walls, floor, ceiling and the way in. Your glass is made to these final sizes, so they must be right.
  4. You get a written priceIt shows the glass, the fittings and the fitting work as separate lines. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
  5. We make it and fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Then we make your glass. Our team delivers it, fits it, checks the doors line up and clears the site.

Questions we get from Civil Lines

Our windows are over ten feet tall. Can you replace them?

Yes. We measure each opening at the top, middle and bottom, because old walls are rarely square. Tall panels are heavy, so we bring enough people to handle them safely. At ground level they come in without any trouble.

Can the new glass match the look of our old bungalow?

Often yes. Slim frames in a dark colour usually suit a colonial building better than bright aluminium. Where your old wooden frames are still sound, reglazing them can be better than replacing. We will tell you honestly which suits your house.

We live in government housing. Can we change the windows?

Check your housing rules first. Some government housing restricts changes to the outside of the building. Inside work, like bathroom glass, is usually fine. Once you know what is allowed, we quote only that.
