A stuck wardrobe sliding door has usually dropped, so it rubs the other shutter or the cabinet. A seized roller, the small wheel it runs on, is the next common cause. A dented or packed track can also hold it at one spot. A shelf or board sagging onto the shutter needs a carpenter, which is not our work.

- How to tell
- The shutter drags along its whole run and may grind. One bottom corner sits lower than the other. A heavy mirror shutter is the most likely to wear its rollers out.

- Open the other shutter, and check that no clothes or shelf edge press on the stuck one.
- Vacuum dust and fluff out of the bottom groove, then try the shutter gently.
- Look at the gap above the shutter to see whether it is even along its width.
- Stop at the first real resistance instead of pushing harder.
- Do not oil the groove, because oily dust soon jams the rollers again.

Why did my wardrobe doors start sticking after the wardrobe was moved?
Moving a wardrobe, or standing it on an uneven floor, can twist the cabinet a little. The tracks then go out of line and the shutters bind. We reset the shutters to suit the new position. If the cabinet itself has come apart, a carpenter must fix it first.
Is it all right to force a stuck wardrobe door to get my clothes out?
We advise against it. Forcing can pull the shutter out of its top guide, and a tall shutter can then tip. Reach in through the other shutter if you can. Leave the stuck one alone until it has been repaired.
Do mirror wardrobe shutters need stronger rollers than board shutters?
Usually, yes. A mirror shutter weighs more than a light board shutter of the same size. Rollers that are too light for it wear out early and start to stick. We match the new rollers to the weight of your shutter.
