Dilshad Garden is a large East Delhi colony of DDA pockets, built mostly in the seventies. The buildings are ground plus three with no lift anywhere. Almost all our work here is homes, and almost all of it is replacement: bathrooms, windows, doors and mesh in flats that are now fifty years old.
Fifty years of wear in a DDA flat
At fifty years old, a Dilshad Garden flat has seen every fitting wear out at least once. Windows stick, doors drop, handles loosen, and old bathroom screens leak.
Most of this is worn parts, not failed frames. New rollers fix a stuck window. A hinge fixes a drooping door.
We check the part first, and replace a whole window only when the frame itself is gone.
Carrying glass up a seventies stair
There is no lift in these pockets. Every panel goes up by hand, and the stair turn decides the largest one.
We measure that turn on the same visit as the room. Toughened glass cannot be cut after it is made, so it matters.
Where a tall panel will not make the turn, we build the run as two with a slim joint.
Bathrooms after fifty years
Bathroom walls here have moved over half a century. Frameless glass would show the lean as a gap, so a slim aluminium frame usually works better.
We also check the floor. If it no longer falls towards the drain, water runs out under the door, however good the seal is.
We measure both walls and floor and tell you what will truly work.
