The rolling shutter is the hardest-worked item on any shop here, operated twice a day for years, and when it goes wrong it takes other things with it. A surprising share of the glass damage we attend in this market started as a shutter that nobody had adjusted.
What a worn shutter does to everything around it
As the guides wear, a shutter stops running square and begins to touch the frame, the glass edge or the door beside it on the way down.\n\nThat is a slow, twice-daily grinding action, and it chips glass edges and scores frames.\n\nSo when we find damage with no obvious cause we check the shutter first. Correcting the alignment is inexpensive; replacing a front pane that a shutter will go on catching is money spent to no purpose.
A shutter that has been forced
When a shutter becomes stiff, people pull harder, and a shutter pulled out of line jams properly rather than gradually.\n\nAt that point the shop cannot be opened or cannot be locked, both of which are urgent.\n\nSo a shutter that has become heavy is worth dealing with while it is merely heavy. Lubricating the guides and re-setting the alignment is a short job; straightening a jammed shutter with stock behind it is not.
Locks on a shop that stands empty overnight
Everything here is secured by lock rather than by presence, so a lock that has to be forced is the thing to replace first.\n\nA lock that sticks is a lock about to fail, and when it fails the shop is either unopenable or unsecurable.\n\nSo we change sticking locks rather than easing them, and we would rather do it at a planned visit than at seven in the morning with a trader who cannot open. The part is inexpensive; the emergency is not.

- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
