Mosquito mesh is the most commonly requested thing we fit and the one where the least useful advice is given. There are real differences between the options and they matter more than the price difference between them, so it is worth setting out plainly what each one does.
What the mesh itself is made of
Nylon mesh is cheapest and goes brittle in sun, usually tearing at a corner within a couple of seasons.\n\nFibreglass mesh costs a little more, resists sun and wind far better and is what we fit as standard.\n\nStainless steel mesh costs considerably more, lasts longest and is worth it where an animal or a determined bird is the problem rather than an insect. For most homes fibreglass is the sensible answer, and the difference against nylon is small enough not to be worth saving.
How it is held is what really decides its life
Mesh stapled or stuck directly to a window cannot be cleaned or replaced without disturbing the window, and a clogged mesh blocks airflow almost completely.\n\nMesh in its own rigid frame lifts out, washes in minutes and goes back.\n\nThat is the difference worth paying for — not a better mesh but one that comes out. We fit removable frames as standard, and it also means the mesh can be renewed years later without touching the window at all.
Fixed, sliding or pleated
A fixed mesh panel is cheapest and covers the opening permanently, which is fine on a window you do not want an unobstructed view through.\n\nA sliding mesh runs alongside a sliding window so you can open either.\n\nA pleated mesh folds back to one side and clears the opening almost completely, which suits a door or a window with a view. It costs the most and it has the most to go wrong. We would fit fixed on most windows and pleated only where the view genuinely matters.

- You get a written priceIt lists each item, with GST as its own line. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
