Almost everybody asks for a price on the phone, which is entirely reasonable, and we cannot give a real one. It is worth explaining why rather than sounding evasive, because the things that change the price are not obvious and they are all found in the first ten minutes of a survey.
What actually changes the price
Glass is priced by area, so the size of the opening matters, and that is the part people expect.\n\nWhat they do not expect is that how square the walls are decides whether frameless is possible, that what the wall is made of decides the fixings, and that where the floor drains decides the layout.\n\nAny of those three can change the figure substantially, and none can be established over a phone. So a phone price is a guess that gets corrected on fitting day, which helps nobody.
What the survey covers
It takes about twenty minutes. We level all three walls, check the corner is square, put a straight edge across the wall, check where the floor falls, sound the tiling, test-drill where the wall is uncertain, and measure the route in.\n\nThen we mark the footprint on the floor so you can walk it.\n\nAfter that the quote is a figure rather than an estimate, and it is the figure at the end. That is the whole point of doing it properly rather than quickly.
Where a budget is best spent
Across a domestic enclosure, what decides whether you are still happy in five years is the hinges, the seals and the fixings.\n\nWhat makes the least practical difference is glass thickness beyond 8mm and a decorative handle.\n\nSo when a budget is fixed we would rather put it into hardware than specification, and we price the parts separately so you can see the choice rather than being given one number. It is the same enclosure either way; what changes is what wears out.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you back in about 2 minutesWe confirm what you need and a time to visit. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening and check the walls, floor and ceiling around it. Anything made to size is made to these measurements, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt lists each item, with GST as its own line. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
