People arrive at this decision having been shown clear, frosted, tinted and patterned glass without being told what any of it does to the room. The differences are real and they are not mainly about looks. It is worth a few minutes before choosing, because the glass is the one part that cannot be changed later.
Clear glass, and why it usually wins
Clear glass lets the eye reach the far wall, so the bathroom reads as its full size rather than stopping at the enclosure.\n\nIn most flats that is the single biggest visual difference available, and it costs no more than the alternatives.\n\nThe honest drawback is that it shows water marks, so it needs wiping after use to stay looking right. Everything else being equal we would fit clear, and we say so rather than steering people towards something that hides marks and shrinks the room.
Frosted, and when it is genuinely needed
Frosted glass is chosen for privacy, and inside a bathroom there is usually nobody on the other side of the enclosure to be private from.\n\nWhere a bathroom is shared and some screening is genuinely wanted, a frosted band at the right height does that without losing the light.\n\nA fully frosted panel halves the light in the room and makes it feel considerably smaller. So we would ask what the privacy is actually for before fitting it, because the answer is often that it is not needed at all.
Tinted and low-iron, and what they really change
Ordinary clear glass has a faint green cast from the iron in it, which shows at the edge of a panel and against pale tiling.\n\nLow-iron glass removes that and costs more; against dark or patterned tiles it makes almost no difference.\n\nTinted glass is a decorative choice and it darkens the enclosure noticeably, which in a bathroom with limited light is usually the wrong direction. So the answer depends on your tiling, and we will say which of yours would actually show it.
