Vaishali's residential blocks span a wide range of ages, from sector housing that predates most of Indirapuram to newer towers near the metro. That range is the reason we measure carefully here rather than working from a similar flat: the wall accuracy, the access and the right answer all change from block to block.
Older blocks: the stair sets the panel
The older sector blocks here have no service lift, so every panel is carried up by hand and the turn in the staircase decides the largest one that will make it.
We measure that turn on the same visit as the bathroom. It takes two minutes and it prevents the one genuinely bad outcome in this trade: a made-to-size toughened panel arriving at a building it cannot physically enter. Toughened glass cannot be trimmed afterwards and does not survive being forced round a corner.
Where the design wants a taller panel than the stair allows, we build the run as two with a slim vertical joint. From normal distance you will not pick it out.
Why the answer differs from your neighbour's flat
People often tell us what was fitted in a friend's flat in the next block and ask for the same, and sometimes that is exactly right and sometimes it is not.
A newer block near the metro usually has walls close to square and a lift that takes a full panel, so frameless in one piece works well. An older sector block usually has neither, and the honest answer there is a slim frame in two panels.
Both are proper jobs. The difference is the building, not the budget. So we put a level on all three walls and measure the access before recommending anything, rather than repeating what suited a different block.
Working in an occupied flat
Almost all of this work happens with the family living there, which shapes the day more than the specification does.
The noisy work - cutting out the old screen, scraping silicone, drilling tile - goes first, early, rather than at the end of the afternoon. The bathroom is out of use for the day, so we say that plainly at the start rather than letting it be discovered at eleven in the morning.
And the stair and landing are cleaned at the end of the session. Glass dust on a shared stair is how a job gets stopped by the RWA on day two, and clearing up is simply the reason we are let back in tomorrow.
