Most of the homes here are recent and the bathrooms have never had an enclosure, so these are first fittings rather than replacements. That removes a good deal of work from the job and it makes the layout decision the important one, because nothing has been arranged around a shower yet.
What a first fitting takes out of the job
In an older bathroom a good part of the day goes on removal: cutting out the old screen, scraping hardened silicone back to clean tile, and finding out what is behind it.\n\nHere none of that exists — no seal to break, no tile to lift, no chance of finding damp behind something that failed years ago.\n\nWhat is left is measuring, making and fitting, which is why a first-fit enclosure goes in comfortably in a day and why the price reflects work rather than excavation.
Marking out the shower for the first time
In a bathroom that has never had an enclosure, where the glass goes is genuinely open, and it decides how the room works from then on.\n\nWhat matters is the door swing, whether you walk past wet glass to reach the basin, and where the towel ends up.\n\nSo we tape the footprint on the floor and ask you to walk it before ordering. It takes ten minutes, people change their mind more often than not, and at that stage it costs nothing to change.
Checking the floor drains before anything is sealed
A bathroom finished without an enclosure in mind often has a floor that is flat where the shower ends up, because there was no reason to fall it there.\n\nSeal an enclosure around a flat area and it becomes a tray with no outlet.\n\nSo we put a level on the floor first. Where there is no fall we either set the enclosure where the floor does drain, or deliberately leave the base open at one point so water can escape. Both work; assuming it drains does not.
