A society that has just started handing over is a particular place to work in. Very few flats are occupied, which is helpful for noise and unhelpful for everything else: lifts, water and power are often not running as they eventually will, and that has to be planned for rather than assumed.
What may not be working yet
In a partly occupied tower the passenger lifts may be limited, the service lift may not be commissioned, and water supply to upper floors can be intermittent.\n\nNone of that stops the work and all of it changes how we plan it.\n\nSo we ask what is actually running before booking a date, and we bring water for testing rather than assuming a tap. It sounds trivial and it is the difference between finishing and coming back for something that had nothing to do with the glass.
The advantage of an empty building
The compensation is real: with few neighbours there are no drilling-hour complaints, the lift is not contested, and materials can be moved without waiting.\n\nSo a job here can often be done faster and at a time that suits you rather than the building.\n\nIt is also the easiest possible moment to fit — an empty flat, clear access, nothing to protect. If you are going to do the bathroom at all, doing it before the tower fills up is genuinely easier than doing it in two years.
Testing the enclosure before we leave
An enclosure has to be tested with running water before anybody signs it off, and in a new flat that is not always straightforward.\n\nSo we check the supply is on before the fitting date, and where it is not we make arrangements rather than leaving the seal untested.\n\nA seal that has never had water against it is an assumption. We would rather run the shower, watch the base and the door line, and correct anything then, than have you find it on the first evening you use it.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you back in about 2 minutesWe confirm what you need and a time to visit. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening and check the walls, floor and ceiling around it. Anything made to size is made to these measurements, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt lists each item, with GST as its own line. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
