There are two kinds of work here and they need different handling. The shops at the junction need a fault dealt with before it costs trade; the homes behind them need the whole list done properly on a convenient day. Knowing which you are is the first thing we ask.
Junction frontages, repaired before opening
For a shop at a junction, the useful window is early morning: there is space to work, somewhere to stop a vehicle and the unit is ready when we leave.\n\nAfter closing means working in the dark beside moving traffic, which is worse for everybody.\n\nWhere a pane is broken we board it the same day so the unit can be secured, and fit the measured replacement on a following morning. Splitting it that way costs no more and gets the shop working immediately.
What highway dust does to window hardware
Properties on a junction take continuous road dust, and it ends up in every sliding track on the elevation.\n\nThat grit wears rollers and, more importantly, blocks the small drainage slots in the outer track.\n\nOnce those are blocked the track fills during heavy rain and water goes inside, which presents as a leaking window and is nothing of the kind. Clearing them takes minutes with a vacuum and it is the single most useful thing to do here before the monsoon.
Homes behind, where the list is worth collecting
For the houses set back from the junction almost nothing is urgent, and the sensible approach is to gather everything into one visit.\n\nTravel and setting up are most of the cost of a small repair, so two visits for a handle and a mesh cost close to twice one visit for both.\n\nSo it is worth walking round before calling. Most households find three or four things once they look, and told in advance we arrive with the parts for all of them.
