We check the closer, the patch fittings and the alignment before quoting anything larger. The glass itself does not warp and patch fittings rarely fail outright, so a quote for a new door in response to a slamming door is worth questioning.
Replacing a panel on a working floor
A broken or chipped panel on an occupied floor is a two-stage job and it is worth knowing the shape of it.
First, make safe. The panel comes out, the glass is cleared properly - toughened glass breaks into a great many small pieces which travel a long way across a hard floor - and the opening is closed off so the floor stays usable and secure.
Then the replacement, which cannot be hurried. A made-to-size toughened panel takes three to five working days, and one with patch-fitting holes takes the same, because the holes are drilled before toughening. Fitting it will usually need a night slot, so the building's window applies to the second visit as much as the first.
