In a house where clients come and go, the ground floor windows and doors are seen by far more people than a normal home's.\n\nSo they are worth specifying properly: laminated rather than plain glass in accessible openings, and locks that are actually engaged rather than fitted.\n\nLaminated glass holds together when broken and stays in the frame, which is the difference that matters. It can usually be retrofitted into existing frames without replacing them, which people are rarely told.
Doors that carry two kinds of traffic
The main door here is used as an office entrance through the day and a front door in the evening, and those want different things.\n\nAn office entrance wants a closer and easy operation; a front door wants a solid lock and no automatic closing onto a latch.\n\nThe workable compromise is a good closer with a hold-open for the working day and a proper deadlock for the evening. We fit both rather than treating it as one kind of door, because treating it as either alone is what produces the complaints.
