Dust and noise mostly come in through small gaps, not through the glass. One gap is the joint between the window frame and the wall. The other is the rubber that holds the glass in an aluminium window. That rubber hardens in the sun and shrinks.
We seal the frame joint and fit new rubber. That is the smaller job, so we start there. Where a room facing the main road must be quieter, we fit double glazing. That is a window with two panes and a sealed gap between them.
In the Yeshwanthpur towers near Mathikere we also repair uPVC windows and balcony sliding doors. A mosquito net on each window lets you keep it open in the evening. The mesh slides beside the glass or swings on a hinged frame, so the window still opens.
