The short answer
A sliding mosquito net door that will not close usually has worn wheels or a twisted frame. Pleated mesh folds away at the side, and grit in its floor rail often makes it stick. Mesh pulled too tight can also bow a door frame out of shape. We find which it is, then fit new mesh, new cords or a new door.
Why it happens
Usually one of these 4 things, commonest first. Each one says how to tell, and what we do about it.
The rollers under the door have worn out
- How to tell
- Rollers are the small wheels that carry a sliding door along its track, the rail below. When they wear, the mesh door drags, jumps or stops short of the frame. You may hear it grind at one spot.
- What we do
- We make a new sliding mesh door with proper rollers set to its track. It runs in its own channel beside the glass, and a latch holds it shut.

- How to tell
- One corner of the door touches the frame before the other, so a gap stays open. Thin frames bend after a knock, a kick or a pet pushing through.
- What we do
- We build a new door from sturdier aluminium sections, cut square to your opening. A kick plate along the bottom rail takes knocks from feet and paws.

- How to tell
- The pleats jerk, bunch up, or leave a gap at the far side. Grit in the floor rail, or a slack or broken cord, usually causes this.
- What we do
- We replace worn cords or torn mesh where the system allows it, and keep the rails. If the rails themselves are damaged, we fit a new pleated mesh to the opening.
Pleated Mosquito NetFrom ₹323 / sq ftSee this fixThe mesh has bowed the frame out of line
- How to tell
- The door slides well, but its long sides curve in, so the edge misses the frame. The mesh inside may look uneven, tight in one place and slack in another.
- What we do
- If the frame is sound, we fit new mesh at an even, gentle pull. Small bends are eased and loose corners reset in the same visit.

What you can check first
These checks are safe to do yourself. A photo or a short video of what you find helps us come prepared.
- Slide the mesh door gently and listen for grinding or a bump at one spot.
- Look along the bottom track and the pleated mesh rail for grit or broken bits.
- Stand back and look down the long edge of the door to see if it curves.
- Check whether the mesh in the door is loose, torn or out of its groove.
- Take a short video of the door sliding and stopping.

Is an old mesh door worth repairing, or should we get a new one?
It depends on the frame. A straight frame with failed mesh usually needs only new mesh. A twisted frame usually needs a new door, since new mesh cannot straighten it.
How do we keep a pleated mesh door from sticking again?
Two habits matter most. Sweep the floor rail often, because the pleats run along that line. Guide the handle bar across by hand instead of pushing it hard.
The mesh door shuts, but light still shows along one edge. Why?
The door reaches the frame but does not seal against it. The sealing strip, the soft bristle edge that closes the gap, may have worn down. On a new sliding mesh door, a latch pulls the door snug against the strips.
Do the glass doors have to come out to work on the mesh door?
No. The mesh door and the glass doors run in separate channels. The glass stays in place, and it slides and locks as before.
