A large share of the partition work on Vikas Marg is dividing a floor into teaching rooms. That is a specific problem: rooms side by side, one person speaking in each, all day. A partition that looks right and does nothing for sound has failed, however good it looks, so this is mostly a question of what actually blocks a voice.
What stops a voice coming through a partition
A voice carries through the weakest part of a partition, not the average of it. So the glass matters less than the gaps.\n\nThe usual leaks are the gap at the head where the partition meets an uneven ceiling, the gap under the door, and any shared ceiling void above the line.\n\nSealing those three does more than upgrading the glass. Where more is needed after that, laminated glass with an acoustic interlayer is the next step, and it is worth paying for only once the gaps are closed.
Taking the partition above the false ceiling
Where a floor has a false ceiling, a partition built only up to it leaves an open void running over every room.\n\nSound travels along that void freely, which is why rooms divided to the ceiling tile still hear each other clearly.\n\nSo for teaching rooms we take the partition up to the slab and seal it there, then run the ceiling into it. It costs more and it is the single biggest difference between rooms that work and rooms that do not. We say so before quoting, because the cheaper version disappoints reliably.
Doors that a hundred people use between classes
A classroom door on a coaching floor is used in bursts: nothing for an hour, then everybody at once.\n\nThat is hard on hardware, and it is hard on glass if the door can swing into a wall or another door.\n\nSo we fit stops and check the swing pattern for the whole floor, not one room. Two classroom doors that can hit each other will hit each other. Setting that out properly at the drawing stage costs nothing and prevents the most common damage on these floors.
