NIT is a working market, and the offices here sit above and behind the shops. Frontages are narrow and rooms run back from the street, which is an awkward shape for an office and a very particular one for glass. Most of our work here is making a deep, dark room usable.
Bringing light to the back of a deep room
A narrow frontage means one window, at the front, and a room that gets darker the further back you go.
A solid cabin wall at the back of that room makes the problem complete: the back half becomes a space nobody wants to sit in.
Glass is the reason to do this in glass at all. A clear or part-frosted partition lets the front window light the whole depth, so the back cabin borrows daylight instead of running a tube light at noon. Where privacy is needed we frost a band at eye level and leave the glass clear above and below it.
Loading glass on a market street
There is nowhere to park outside a shop in NIT during trading hours, and a glass panel cannot be carried far.
So the delivery is the constraint, not the fitting. We bring panels early, before the market fills, and carry them in one run.
That means we need the room clear when we arrive rather than an hour later. We say so in advance, because a panel standing in a shop doorway while somebody finds a key is the way glass gets broken.
Frosting at the right height above a shop
An office above a market gets looked into from the stairs and the landing, which is a different sightline from a corridor.
Somebody coming up a staircase sees into the room at an angle and from below, so a frosted band set at standing eye level does not actually block that view.
We check the line from the top of the stairs before marking the band, and set it where it works from there. It usually ends up slightly lower than standard, and it is the difference between a private cabin and one that only looks private on paper.

- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
