Most of the internal work we do in Central Market is for clothing retail, and in a clothing shop the partitions that matter are the trial rooms. They have to be genuinely private, they have to be quick to use, and they take up floor that would otherwise hold stock. Getting more of them into less space is the whole brief.
Trial rooms that are private and still quick
A trial room needs full privacy, which glass alone does not give, so these are built from solid or fully obscured panels rather than clear glass.\n\nThe part that gets designed badly is the door. A hinged door needs floor to swing into and that floor is shop floor.\n\nA sliding or folding door takes none, and a curtain on a proper track is faster still and cheaper. Where the room is tight we would fit a curtain and spend the difference on the mirror and the lighting, which is what customers actually judge.
Mirrors, and why the lighting decides the sale
A trial room mirror is judged on how the customer thinks they look, and that is lighting far more than glass.\n\nA single light overhead throws shadows downward, which is the least flattering arrangement possible and a genuine reason people put clothes back.\n\nLight from both sides at face height is what works. So when we fit trial room mirrors we ask where the light is and say if it needs moving. It is outside the glass itself and it is the thing that makes the room work.
Fitting more rooms into the same floor
Trial rooms are usually built in a row against a back wall, and the wasted space is the circulation in front of them.\n\nStaggering the rooms, or angling the row, can often add one more without taking more floor.\n\nSo we set the layout out on the floor with tape before building anything, and count how many fit in each arrangement. An extra trial room in a busy market shop pays for the whole partition job in a season, which makes this worth an hour of planning.

- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
