An open kitchen screen looks simple and is the most demanding glazing in the building.\n\nIt takes heat on one side, it is cleaned aggressively several times a day, and grease settles on it continuously.\n\nSo it wants toughened glass, which handles thermal stress far better than ordinary float, and a frame with no open channel for grease to collect in. A standard office glazing bead in that position becomes impossible to clean within weeks, and that is a hygiene problem rather than an appearance one.
