We replace the glazing rubber in aluminium windows across Bengaluru. Inside every aluminium window frame, a rubber gasket grips the glass. It is what keeps the pane firm, quiet and sealed. Twenty years of sun bakes that rubber hard. It shrinks back from the corners, cracks, and falls out in pieces, and then the glass rattles in every breeze, dust draws a neat line along the inside sill, and rain finds its way in. New gasket all round, sized to your glass and section, starts at ₹850 per window.
What the gasket does until it dies
Glass cannot sit directly in aluminium. Metal expands and contracts with heat, glass barely moves, and without a cushion between them the frame would work the pane loose or crack it. The gasket is that cushion, and it is also the window's seal against dust, wind and rain.
Sun is its enemy. Bengaluru's west- and south-facing windows take heat every afternoon for decades, and the rubber slowly loses its oils, hardens, and shrinks. Shrinkage opens the corners first, which is why the first dust lines appear at the corners of the sill.
By the time pieces of gasket are lying on the sill, the glass is being held mostly by gravity and paint. It rattles because it truly is loose.
The symptoms in order of appearance
First, sound: a soft buzz from the pane when a truck passes or wind pushes the building. Fresh rubber damps that dead.
Second, dust: a fine line along the inside sill after windy days, entering through gaps the shrunken gasket left. Wiping it daily does not close the gap.
Third, water: monsoon rain driven at the window works past the failed corners, and small pools appear on the sill.
Fourth, movement you can feel: press the pane gently with a flat palm, and it shifts or clicks against the metal. At this stage treat the window kindly and book soon, because a loose pane takes shocks the gasket used to absorb.
How re-gasketing is done
The old rubber is stripped out of the channel, along with the crumbs and dust packed behind it. On most sliding windows this happens with the shutter lifted out and laid flat, which is safer for the glass.
The channel is cleaned dry. New gasket then rolls in around the pane, in one run per side with clean corners. The profile has to match both the section and the glass thickness, and this pairing is most of the skill: gasket too small grips nothing, too large bows the run and leaks at the bulges.
The pane is checked for firm, even seating, the shutter goes back on its track, and we run and latch it. A re-gasketed window feels different immediately: solid, quiet, and still.
Cost and scope
One window, re-gasketed all round, starts at ₹850. Each additional window on the same visit is the same rate, and doing a sun-facing wall of windows together is the common booking.

One honest note: if a pane is already cracked, new gasket will hold it quiet but not heal it. We tell you, and glass replacement is priced separately by the square foot. What we do not do is silently re-rubber a broken pane and call the window fixed.
