In a settled sector most flats have changed hands, and along the way somebody has usually replaced a window with whatever was available at the time. Those are the awkward ones to repair, because they match neither the building nor any system we would normally expect, and identifying what is actually there is most of the work.
Identifying a window nobody has records of
A window fitted by a previous owner could be from any of dozens of systems, and rollers, handles and locks are not interchangeable between them.\n\nThey look similar enough that ordering from a description almost never works.\n\nSo we photograph the section and take out a sample part before ordering anything. That adds a day to a simple repair and it is why we arrive with a part that fits. Bringing the nearest equivalent and forcing it in leaves the window worse than it started.
When a replacement was fitted badly
Retrofitted windows are frequently fitted out of square, packed into an opening rather than fixed to it, and sealed with whatever was to hand.\n\nThe symptoms read as wear — binding at a corner, a lock that will not line up, a seal touching on one side.\n\nSo before pricing parts we check the frame is square and actually fixed. Re-fitting it properly often cures everything at once, and on a window only a few years old that is far more likely than the hardware being worn out.
One window that does not match the rest
A retrofitted window is usually visible from outside, in a different colour, a different frame depth or a different pane division from its neighbours.\n\nIn a uniform block that matters to the society as well as to the look.\n\nSo where such a window is being repaired anyway and a replacement is on the cards, we would match it back to the rest of the elevation rather than perpetuating the mismatch. It rarely costs more to specify and it quietly puts right something that has irritated people for years.

- We fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Our own team fits the work, checks that every door and window opens and closes properly, and clears up. Most jobs are done in 3 to 4 days.
