We replace shower door seals across Bengaluru. Around every shower door run soft strips: a sweep along the bottom edge, blades down the closing side, sometimes a magnetic pair that snaps the door shut. They are what keeps water in the shower area, and they are consumables. Hot water and cleaning acids harden them in a few years, and then the bathroom floor is wet after every bath. A wet floor is the most preventable slip risk in a home. New seals, cut to your door on site, start at ₹950 per door, fitted.
The seals a shower door carries, and which one is leaking
The bottom sweep does most of the work. It wipes the tray edge as the door moves and closes the gap underneath. When it hardens or its lip tears, water sheets straight out under the door. A puddle appearing along the door's bottom edge points here.
The closing-edge strip seals the vertical gap where the door meets the fixed panel or wall. Hardened, it leaves a slot that spray fires through. A wet line on the floor in front of the closing edge points here.
Magnetic strips, on doors that click shut, both seal and hold the door. When they age, the door neither seals nor stays properly shut.
Finding the failed strip is the first minutes of the visit: we run the shower and watch where the water actually goes.
Why bathroom cleaners kill seals early
The strips are clear PVC. Two things age them: hot water, which nothing avoids, and strong cleaning chemicals, which are optional.
Acid-based tile cleaners and undiluted bleach attack PVC directly. The strip yellows, then stiffens, then cracks along the fold line where it flexes. Bathrooms cleaned weekly with strong acid lose their seals in half the usual time, and we can usually tell on sight.
The fix is not living with dirty glass. Neutral bathroom cleaners take off soap film without touching the PVC. After a reseal we tell you which kind to avoid, because the cheapest way to buy this repair less often is written on the cleaner bottle.
The reseal visit
The old strips come off, and the door edge is cleaned of scale and residue. On the bottom edge that crust is what stops new sweeps seating straight, so this cleaning is not optional.
New strips are cut from fresh rolls to your door's exact width and height. Profiles matter: sweeps and blades come in shapes for different gap sizes and glass thicknesses, and we carry the common ones for both 6mm and 8mm shower glass, and 10mm where enclosures use it.
Before fitting, we check why the gap is the size it is. A door sagging on worn hinges has a wedge-shaped gap no straight strip can seal. If that is your door, we level it first or tell you what it needs, because resealing a crooked door is selling you a repeat visit.
What resealing costs
A full reseal of one door, bottom sweep and closing strips, starts at ₹950 fitted. A magnetic closing pair is priced as its own part when the door uses one.
Both doors of a double-door enclosure, or the fixed-panel strips as well, add modestly on the same visit. The strips themselves are not expensive. The visit is the cost, so doing every strip in the bathroom at once is the sensible order.
There is no drying wait: the strips press on mechanically, and the shower can be used the same day. Where we have also siliconed anything, we say so and ask for the standard day of patience.
