We replace locks on glass doors across Bengaluru. A frameless glass door locks through a patch lock. That is the small metal box on the corner of the door, with a bolt that drops into the floor or into a keeper. When it wears, the key gets stiff, then it stops turning, and one day the office does not open. We fit a new lock into the same cutout in your glass, line it up, and hand you the new keys. Prices start at ₹1,900 per lock, supplied and fitted.
How a glass door lock fails
The key gets harder to turn week by week. The levers inside the lock are wearing, and dust from the floor works into the box.
The bolt stops reaching its hole. The door has dropped a little, so the bolt and the keeper no longer line up. The lock is fine. The door needs setting.
The key turns but nothing moves. Something inside the lock has sheared. This is the one that locks people out, and it usually happens after weeks of the stiff-key warning.
If your key has started to fight you, send us a photo of the lock corner on WhatsApp. Changing it early is a planned visit. Changing it after it fails is a locked office.
The lock must match the cutout in your glass
Toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after it is made. The cutout for your lock was made before the glass went into the furnace, and it cannot change now.
So the new lock has to fit that cutout. Most patch locks in India follow standard corner sizes, and we match to those. A photo of the lock with a tape measure across it tells us which size to bring.
Where the old lock is an odd size, a cover plate can often bridge the difference neatly. If nothing safe will fit, we say so honestly instead of forcing a lock that will fail again.
How the lock change goes
The old lock comes off the corner of the door. The glass around the cutout is cleaned, and we check the edges for chips while the corner is open. Chips near a cutout matter, and you should know about them.
The new lock goes on with fresh gaskets between metal and glass. We never reuse old rubber. Then we line the bolt up with the floor socket or the keeper, so the key turns with two fingers, not a fist.
Most lock changes take about an hour. The door stays hanging the whole time.
What a lock change costs
A patch lock, supplied and fitted, starts at ₹1,900. That includes the new keys, the gaskets and the alignment.
If the keeper or the floor socket has worn too, we change it at the same time, as a small extra line. A black or brushed finish costs a little more than chrome and may take a few days to order.
If the lock is healthy and only the alignment has gone, we set the door and charge for the visit, not for a lock. You should not buy a part you do not need, and we will not sell you one.
