We replace aluminium window handles across Bengaluru. The handle is the one part of a window a hand touches every day, and on aluminium windows it is usually a small cast latch or a crank. They snap, the spring inside dies, or the screws strip out of the frame, and then the window either will not stay shut or will not open at all. The three handle types on aluminium windows
Sliding windows use a latch handle: a small lever that hooks into the frame and pulls the shutter closed. This is the commonest window handle in Bengaluru and the one that snaps most often, because the casting is thin and people force it when the shutter drags.
Casement windows, the type that swing outward, use a handle that cams the shutter tight against its seal, and often a stay arm that holds it open at an angle.
Older buildings still carry crank handles that wind a window open. Their gears strip with age, and the crank spins uselessly.

Why window handles really fail
Half the snapped handles we replace did nothing wrong. They were forced because the shutter itself had become hard to move, on worn rollers or a gritty track, and the handle was the weakest point in that fight.
So a snapped handle is often a message about the window. Fitting a shiny new handle to a dragging shutter sentences the new handle to the same death.
This is why our handle visit includes running the shutter. If it moves freely, the handle was simply old, and the new one ends the story. If it drags, we tell you, and rollers or a track clean can happen in the same visit for their own fixed price. You choose with the facts in hand.
The fitting, and the stripped-screw problem
Aluminium frames hold screws in thin metal, and decades of use strip the threads. The old handle then spins on loose screws, and simply driving bigger screws splits the section.
We refit properly: fresh fixing points where the metal allows, threaded inserts or backing where it does not. The handle should feel planted, with no rock, because rock is what loosens it again.
The keeper, the piece the latch hooks into, is aligned at the same time. A latch that grabs on the first pull, without lifting or slamming the shutter, is the finish line. On a security note, we make sure the latch actually holds the window against a pull from outside, which on worn keepers it often quietly stopped doing years ago.
Pricing for one window or a whole flat
One handle, supplied and fitted, starts at ₹650. Each additional handle on the same visit is the same rate, so a flat with six windows is six handles and one trip.
Crank units cost more than latches, priced as the part plus the same fitting. Key-locking window handles, worth having on ground floor and children's rooms, are a small step up.
If only one handle brings us out, the visit is charged as per the rate card, which is why bundling every stiff or broken handle in the house into one booking is the way everyone should do this. Most homes have more than one waiting.
