What we repair on an aluminium window
Call us when a sliding shutter is hard to push, comes off its track, rattles in wind, or will not lock. We also come for a handle that spins without doing anything, a shutter that has dropped at one corner, and a window that lets in dust along its closing edges.
We work on the sliding aluminium windows most homes and offices have, with two or three shutters on one frame. We also repair hinged aluminium windows, though there are fewer of those. Send a photo of the whole window and a short video of the fault. It helps us bring the likely part.
The order we check things in, and why it matters
The track comes first. Grit and wet dust pack into an aluminium track, and the rollers have to climb over it. Once it is clean and dressed straight, we run the shutter and watch it.
The rollers come second. They are the small wheels under each shutter. Worn rollers let the shutter sit low, so it scrapes and its lock no longer meets the keeper. We set the height, and if a roller is flat or broken we change the pair.
Only then do we look at the lock and the handle. Many locks that seem broken work normally once the shutter is back at the right height. Last comes the rubber around the glass. If it has shrunk, the pane rattles, and we renew it.
This order saves you money. A lock you did not need is the commonest thing we see charged for on an aluminium window.
What the visit includes and what is extra
The ₹1,350 visit covers travel, the full check and up to 90 minutes of work. Cleaning and dressing the track, setting the roller height, freeing a stiff shutter, moving a keeper and tightening loose fittings are all visit work.
Rollers, locks, handles and glazing rubber are parts. Each has its own fixed price, and we show you the worn part before we change it. Most common aluminium parts are on the van. If your window uses an unusual profile, we measure it and tell you the return date in writing.
The glass is not touched unless it is loose or cracked. Loose glass is re-bedded on the same visit. Cracked glass is a separate job, priced by the square foot.
Repair or replace the window
Most aluminium window faults sit in the shutter and its hardware. The outer frame, the part fixed into the wall, is usually sound, and it can stay. That avoids breaking plaster and keeps a good frame in service.
A new window makes sense when the outer frame is bent, when its corners have opened, or when it has pulled away from the wall and lets water in. We tell you plainly when that is the case, and we can price a new aluminium or uPVC window beside the repair.
A dragging shutter or a lock that misses is never on its own a reason to replace the whole window.
