We repair stuck and jamming doors across Bengaluru. A sticking door is the most tolerated fault in any building: everyone learns the shove, the lift, the hip-check, and the door stays broken for years. Doors stick for reasons that can be listed: dropped hinges, a settled frame, swollen edges after rain, a failed floor spring, dead rollers under a slider. We work on glass, aluminium and uPVC doors, find which reason yours has, and fix that. The visit is ₹1,900, covering travel and up to two hours of work.
Where a door binds tells you why
Scraping along the floor through the whole swing: the door has dropped bodily, on worn hinges or a sunk floor spring.
Binding at the top corner of the latch side: the door has sagged diagonally, the classic worn-hinge signature.
Sticking at one season and free in another: swelling. Moisture is moving the door or its frame, and monsoon is when it grips.
Jamming at the same spot of a slider's travel: track damage at that point, or a flat roller thudding.
A latch that needs the handle lifted to close: the door has moved relative to its keeps, and the lock is straining to reach home.
We read the door's rub marks like a map before adjusting anything. The marks never lie about where the interference is.
Why doors drop, and why forcing makes it worse
Every door hangs its whole weight on its hinges or pivot, all day, for years. Hinge pins wear oval, screws creep out of their threads, floor spring bearings settle, and the door comes down a millimetre or three. A millimetre at the hinge is a scraping corner at the far edge.
The learned shove accelerates all of it. Forcing a binding door levers its hinges at every use, working the fixings looser and the sag faster, and on glass doors it also shocks the panel, which is how stuck doors produce cracked glass.
The repair unwinds the sequence: fixings re-made solid, worn parts replaced at fixed prices, the door lifted and set square so it swings through its opening with clearance everywhere.
The visit across door types
On hinged doors, aluminium and uPVC, we reset or replace hinges, pack and square the leaf, and re-align the keeps so latch and lock land without strain.
On glass doors, the floor spring and patch fittings hold the adjustment, and setting a dropped glass door square is precision work our glass door alignment service describes in full. A stuck glass door booked here gets the same care.
On sliders, the answer lives below: rollers and track put right, guides reset.
On swollen doors, we ease the binding edge to working clearance and, more usefully, name the moisture source, because a door that swells every monsoon is drinking water from somewhere, and the somewhere is fixable.
The price of the visit
₹1,900 covers travel and up to two hours, which frees and fixes most stuck doors with time over. Setting, re-squaring, easing and alignment are all inside the visit price.
Parts, when a part has died, are at their fixed prices: hinges by the pair, floor springs, rollers, locks, each named on this site with its own figure. You approve any part before it is fitted.
More than one difficult door in the building fits the same visit while time allows, and stuck doors travel in families: the building that settled under one door settled under its neighbours too. The shove you have learned is not a fixture of the house. It is a repair that has not been booked yet.
