We fix squeaking glass doors across Bengaluru. A glass door should move without a sound. When it starts to squeak, creak or grind, a metal part is running dry, or something is rubbing that should be clearing. The noise is annoying in a home. In an office, where the meeting room door announces every person who walks in, it becomes a daily joke that nobody fixes. We find the sound, silence it, and set the door so it does not come back. Where the squeak actually comes from
A squeak on the swing is usually a hinge or pivot running dry. The thin factory grease inside dries out after a few years, and steel starts talking to steel.
A creak at the start of the movement is often a loose fixing. The hinge shifts a fraction under the door's weight, and the creak is that shift.
A grinding sound near the floor means the door has dropped and its bottom edge or fitting is touching. This is the one not to ignore, because grinding wears the door and the floor with every swing.
A squeal from a sliding door is a flat spot on a roller dragging along the track instead of turning.
Each sound points at a different part. That is why we listen to the door before we touch it.
Why oil from the kitchen makes it worse
The first thing most people try is a spray of whatever oil is at home. The door goes quiet for a week, then squeaks worse than before.
Thin oil washes out the remaining grease and then dries, leaving the metal barer than it started. It also runs. Oil streaks down glass and pools on the floor at the pivot, and an oily patch beside a glass door is a slipping hazard.
Door fittings want a small amount of the right grease in the right spot, not a wet spray over the whole hinge. Part of our visit is cleaning off past attempts, because grease will not hold on an oiled surface.
What the silence visit involves
We swing the door slowly, then fast, and listen. Loaded and unloaded, opened wide and cracked ajar. The pattern of the sound names the part.
The noisy fitting is cleaned out, old residue removed, and greased with the correct grease for its type. Fixings are tightened. If the door has dropped into contact with something, it is set back square, which is where our alignment work comes in.
Then we swing the door another twenty times. A door that is quiet once proves nothing. If a bearing inside a floor spring or hinge is genuinely worn out, grease only postpones it, so we tell you plainly and price the part separately. Most squeaks end without any part at all.

What the visit cannot promise is eternal silence from a part that is dying. A floor spring with a worn bearing will run quiet for months after cleaning and greasing, then start again. When we find that, you get the truth and a price for the part, and you choose. Many customers take the quiet months and change the part later, planned, and that is a perfectly good choice.
What should never happen is paying for new parts to fix what one rupee of grease in the right place would have fixed. That is the trap this visit exists to avoid.
