The houses across HRBR and HBR Layout are mostly independent. Most are let out one floor at a time. So a shower enclosure here is rarely a decision one person makes alone. The owner pays for it, the tenant lives with it, and the fitting day has to suit both.
Measuring a bathroom somebody is using
We need about twenty minutes in the room, with the shelves clear enough to reach the walls.
It is worth setting this up properly, not just turning up and hoping. A measurement taken around a full bathroom is a bad measurement, and the glass is made to it.
On fitting day the room is out of use for most of the day. The silicone then needs a day or two more before the shower is used. Tell the tenant that in advance. It is the one thing that causes trouble on these jobs.
Fixings and the walls behind the tiles
Upper floors in these houses were often added later. So the bathroom walls are not always solid all the way through.
So we tap the wall before we drill. A hollow wall needs a different fixing from a solid one. Use the wrong one and the enclosure loosens within months.
We also put the fixings in the middle of a tile, away from the edges, because a tile splits at its edge. On older tiles we tell you the risk before we start, not after.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you backUsually the same day. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call. Then you know if a visit is worth your time.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening. We also check the walls, floor, ceiling and the way in. Your glass is made to these final sizes, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt shows the glass, the fittings and the fitting work as separate lines. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We make it and fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Then we make your glass. Our team delivers it, fits it, checks the doors line up and clears the site.
