A bathroom in a Basavanagudi house has usually been redone at least once already. The building around it has moved a lot since it went up. So the measurement matters more here than almost anywhere. We take the opening at three heights and check the floor with a level. If the opening changes width and we cut the panel to one size, a gap shows down one edge.
What the measurements usually tell us
In a house this age, the opening is often a few millimetres wider at the top than at the bottom. The floor usually slopes away from one wall too.
Under a few millimetres, frameless is fine and looks better. More than that, the channel of a slim aluminium frame takes up the difference where frameless cannot.
We make that call with a level in the room, not over the phone. If your bathroom has just been fully re-tiled, the walls are straight again and frameless is the right answer, whatever the age of the house.
Working in a house somebody lives in
