Most offices we do in Koramangala are old houses turned into offices. Bedrooms became cabins. A living room became one open floor. The ceiling height also changes as you walk through. The main roads are different work. There we fit entrance doors and front glass for shops and restaurants. We do both here. Each one needs different planning.
Measuring a converted house
We make each panel to fit its own room. We do not use one size for all. In most of these buildings the ceiling steps down between rooms.
Often there is a beam or a pipe right where the glass needs to go. We measure it at the visit. Then we cut the panel to fit around it. Or we split the run so the join sits at the beam. We make both in our workshop. This is because toughened glass (safety glass) cannot be cut after it is made.
Floors here often slope. So we set the glass to the finished floor, not to a level line on the wall.
Fronts for restaurants and shops
On the main roads the job changes. A door on a busy front is opened hundreds of times a day. So it needs a strong floor spring (the part under the door that pulls it shut) made for public use. The lock and handle must match it.
Lighter parts look the same in a photo and cost less. They start slamming inside a year.
We list every part on the written price. So you can check a cheaper quote and see what is really in it. Anything that changes the shop face needs the building owner to agree first. Start that early, not after the glass is made.
Getting the glass in
Parking is the real problem here. Most streets are narrow and full of parked cars. A vehicle waiting outside becomes a problem within minutes.
So we come early, unload fast, and move the vehicle away. Then we carry the panels up. Very few converted houses have a lift. The turn in the staircase decides the biggest panel we can use. We measure that turn on the same visit as the room.
