The housing here is independent houses and small blocks. Mostly two to four floors, and mostly without a service lift. So we carry every panel up the stairs by hand. The turn in that staircase decides the largest piece of glass we can use. It is the measurement people never think of. Here it matters more than the bathroom does.
We measure the stairs, not just the bathroom
We measure the staircase turn on the same visit as the opening. A half landing with a tight turn will stop a panel that would fit your bathroom just fine.
If one panel will not make it, we build the enclosure as two panels joined with a connector. From a few feet away you cannot see the join.
Toughened glass cannot be cut smaller on site, so we sort this out before anything is made. The only real problem is finding it out on fitting day. That extra five minutes at the measuring visit avoids it.
The age split, street by street
These bathrooms split by age, not by address. A recently re-tiled one suits frameless, and it looks better for it. An old bathroom in a house twenty years old has usually moved a few millimetres. A slim aluminium frame hides that inside its channel.
We check with a level at the measuring visit instead of deciding early.
What really stops a leak is not the glass. It is a good seal along the door edge, plastic seals along the bottom and sides, and bathroom-grade silicone around the joins. Then about a day for it to set before you use the shower.
How the job works
- Tell us about the jobSend a few photos, rough sizes and what you need. Use WhatsApp or the form. For a repair, a short video of the door moving helps a lot.
- We call you backUsually the same day. Where we can, we give you a rough price on the call. Then you know if a visit is worth your time.
- We come and measureWe measure the opening. We also check the walls, floor, ceiling and the way in. Your glass is made to these final sizes, so they must be right.
- You get a written priceIt shows the glass, the fittings and the fitting work as separate lines. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We make it and fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Then we make your glass. Our team delivers it, fits it, checks the doors line up and clears the site.
