Most bathrooms we fit in Indiranagar are in older buildings. So this is usually a new one to replace an old one, not the first fitting. That changes two things. Which style suits your walls. And how we get the glass to your floor. We settle both at the measuring visit, before we make anything.
Why a slim frame often suits these bathrooms
After twenty years a building moves. The walls lean a little. The opening is usually a few millimetres wider at one end than the other.
Frameless glass has almost no room to take that up. So a gap shows down the edge. And the door may need packing to close well.
A slim aluminium frame has that room built into the channel, and it hides a lot. If your bathroom has just been fully re-tiled, frameless looks better again and is easier to clean. We check with a level at the measuring visit. We do not decide before that.
Getting a panel up an old staircase
There is rarely a lift. And the staircases in these buildings turn sharply at each half landing.
So the staircase sets the biggest panel we can carry, not the bathroom. We measure it on the same visit.
When one panel is too big for the turn, we make the enclosure as two panels with a slim joint. This is completely normal and hard to see once fitted. Toughened glass cannot be cut down on site, so we work this out before we make anything.
What actually stops a leak
Not the glass. Almost every leaking enclosure we visit has the same two faults. The seal along the door edge has gone hard or fallen off. And the silicone behind the tile line has failed.
So we fit a good seal along the closing edge, plastic seals along the bottom and sides, and bathroom silicone around the joins.
Then we ask you not to use the shower for about a day while it sets. Using it the same evening is the most common reason a brand new enclosure seems to leak in its first week.
