Most offices we partition here sit on the first or second floor above a shop. A CA firm, a doctor, a small team of six people. The building is older than the business in it, and the stair is narrow. The walls were plastered by hand, long before anyone thought about glass. We measure all of that on one visit, because none of it shows on a floor plan.
Working above a shop that cannot close
The shop below you trades all day. Its shutter is usually the only wide opening in the building.
So we carry material up before the shutters go up. That means an early start. And we agree the time with the shop as well as with you.
Once the panels are upstairs, the noisy part is short. Drilling and fixing take a few hours per cabin. The rest is quiet work.
The stair sets the panel size, not the room
These buildings have a straight flight, then a tight turn onto the landing. That turn is the real limit.
We measure it on the same visit as the office. Where a full-height panel will not make the turn, we build the run as two panels with a thin connector between them.
We will not force a toughened panel around a corner. Toughened glass (safety glass) does not chip when pushed too far. It breaks fully. And a made-to-size panel cannot be taken off a shelf.
Old walls are rarely straight
Walls plastered by hand bend in and out along their length. On a full-height frameless panel, even a small bend leaves a gap you can see at one end.
We measure the wall at three heights, not one. Then we either pack behind the wall profile to take up the difference, or use a slim aluminium frame. A frame hides a bend far better than a bare edge does.
We also check what is behind the plaster. Some of these walls have a thick lime coat over brick. So the fixing has to reach the brick to hold anything.

- You get a written priceIt shows the glass, the fittings and the fitting work as separate lines. If anything about the job changes, we tell you before we go ahead.
- We make it and fit itYou approve the price and pay the advance. Then we make your glass. Our team delivers it, fits it, checks the doors line up and clears the site.
