Bathrooms in these bungalows are usually large and old at the same time. High ceilings, solid walls that have shifted over many years, and owners who notice small things. So we spend longer measuring here than almost anywhere. And we are careful about which system we suggest.
Height changes what we fit
A tall bathroom means a tall panel. A tall panel means thicker glass than a normal enclosure needs.
Where a run is long as well as tall, we add a support rod from the top of the glass back to the wall. This keeps the panel steady. It is not there to raise the bill. A panel that bends when the door closes loosens its fittings over time.
We write the thickness and any support rod on the written price. Then you can see what the height really costs, not hidden inside one number.
Old walls, and our honest advice
These buildings have moved. Walls lean, floors slope, and an opening is rarely the same width at the top and the bottom.
Frameless glass has almost no room to take that up. So a gap shows down the edge and the door may need packing. A slim aluminium frame hides it inside the channel.
Where a bathroom has just been fully re-tiled, the walls are straight again and frameless looks better. We measure at three heights and check with a level before we say which. In a building this old, one measurement is never enough.
