The Expressway towers hold the largest floor plates we work on in Noida, and the jobs here are almost always contractor-run rather than direct. That changes what matters. The partition specification is usually settled before we are involved; what decides whether the job goes well is the programme slot and the panel schedule.
The slot in the trade order, and why we will argue for it
Glass goes in after ceilings and flooring are substantially complete, and before final finishes.
Earlier than that, every trade that follows damages the panels. That matters far more with toughened glass than with plasterboard or paint, because a chipped panel cannot be made good - it is remade, and that is three to five working days back into a programme that rarely has them spare.
So if the programme puts us before flooring, we will say so before agreeing the slot rather than after. It is not a preference. It is the difference between a floor that hands over on time and one that waits on a remade panel.
What we give a main contractor before starting
A contractor comparing quotes needs more than a rate, so the package is the same every time.
The panel schedule: every panel, its size, its thickness and where it goes. The fitting sequence, so it can be slotted into the programme against the other trades. And a price that separates glass, fittings and labour as three lines rather than one number.
That last point matters when you are comparing three quotes. A single rate hides whether somebody has specified thinner glass, lighter fittings, or fewer people on site. Split out, the comparison is real.
Setting out on a floor plate that is not square
Large floor plates are rarely as square as the drawing, and on a long run of cabins that accumulates.
If the panels are set out from the drawing rather than from the building, the error collects along the run and the last cabin is visibly out of line with the grid. On a small floor nobody notices. On a hundred-foot run everybody does.
So we set out from the building - a datum line taken on site, checked against the ceiling grid and the column line - and distribute any discrepancy across the run instead of letting it land in the last bay. This is decided at the measuring stage, and it is why we measure after the ceiling grid is in.
